Women 'N Food (WIP)
I knew Chefette was going to be special when the hostess behind the counter had yellow and purple eyeliner on to match her uniform.
Two things I loved: the roti, the nostalgia and the fact that it was Black women working at the restaurant. It's not Black owned but the women were working, out there doing it and running the place and the day-to day.
This visit inspired Women N Food. Women 'N Food is a series that explores Black and Brown womens’ relationship to food, both in creation and consumption as well as the homes and habitats in which the ritual of preparing and eating food takes place.
